The value of exports of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) and herbal products increased in the year 2015-2016 comparatively than previous years, Bureaucracy Today has learnt.
As per the information provided by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), the value of exports of AYUSH and herbal products together for 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 is 36,69,86,349 USD, 35,46,81,946 USD, and 36,39,97,081 USD respectively.
Interestingly, after a decline in the value of exports of AYUSH and herbal products in 2014-2015, increase was registered again in the previous year 2015-2016. However, in terms of quantity of exports of AYUSH and herbal products, there has been a steady increase.
It was 76720120 kg, 92059222 kg, and 95883487 Kg respectively in 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2015-16.

The Ministry of AYUSH was formed in November 9, 2014 with a view to provide focused attention for the development of Education and Research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.
