AYUSH National Teachers Eligibility Test Mandatory for Lecturers Now

AYUSH National Teachers Eligibility test Kolkata: Those who are interested in applying to the post of lecturers in any of Ayush Medical Colleges now have to appear for Ayush National Teachers Eligibility Test as it has been made mandatory by the Centre from the current academic year. A nationwide examination, Ayush National Teachers Eligibility Test will be conducted from 2018-19 academic sessions for the appointment of all teachers in Ayush institutions and unique verification codes for such teachers shall be allotted by the Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) or the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) before their appointment.
The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Sidhha and Homeopathy (Ayush) has issued an order to the Secretary of CCIM saying that Ayush teachers have to take the National Teachers Eligibility Test while the admission of students at the undergraduate level of Ayush courses would be done on the basis of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
It can be mentioned that all the educational institutions under Ayush must admit candidates through NEET. For all system of Ayush, minimum 50 percentile should be obtained by a candidate to qualify in the test. Many believe that the introduction of a nationwide screening examination will bring more transparency in the recruitment of teachers in Ayush institutions. For existing teachers who are presently in the post of lecturers will have to appear for the Ayush National Teachers Eligibility Test for their promotion to the post of Readers.
Earlier, there was no such eligibility test for those candidates who wanted to become a teacher in any of the Ayush institution. As a result, the recruitment of teachers used to depend on the management of a particular institution. There had been allegations of favouritism while in some cases the candidates allegedly had to pay a huge amount of money in order to become a teacher. It also said that Aadhar based Geo-location enabled attendance system for teaching staff, non-teaching/hospital staff and PG students would also be introduced to fix their accountability.
