Book Review of "Case Perceiving Know Thyself" by Dr. L M Khan

Case Perceiving Know ThyselfIt is my privilege and pleasure to write a review for this book. As I understand, the author is well read and profoundly skilled in the art of Medicine.

Anyone can ask we have so many books and writings on Case Taking, why another one? To answer that, rather I would emphasise, that the serious practitioners of the Healing Art were waiting for this book for a long time.

For many years earlier writings on this subject have been like reference books and one has to go through all of them and connect the thoughts. But here in this book, the author has not only connected and presented ‘Case Taking’; he has also summed up his learning from the great legends of homeopathy-

  • Dr J N Majumdar
  • Dr J N Kanjilal and
  • Dr B N Chakraborty.

The whole lot of presentation in this book is the author’s experience which he thought to share with profession. Here, without disparaging the importance of science, he has stressed upon the art of Case Perceiving where he said ‘Perceive the Whole Self’; ‘Perceive the Being in the Human’.

In this book he has presented his thoughts into two parts mainly Part I and Part II. The first part has eleven chapters, the second part has five chapters and each chapter has its subchapters. In the chapters of Part I, he has covered the history part of Case Perceiving upto the practical guidelines for the same. In the Part II which is like an applied part of Case Perceiving, wherein he has explained the various aspects of prescribing, the art of selection of dose, case management and some thirty eight cases from his experience.

The book has been made in a very quick to read style, you feel pleasure while reading and easy to grasp. In just one sentence, I can say, it is a complete package to learn basic Milestones, i.e., Case Perceiving. A book for students, practitioners as well as for researchers which ‘One cannot live without’.
