SER clocks freight growth in volume & value
South Eastern Railway on August 7 said that during the first quarter of financial year 2018-19, ending July 31, it earned Rs 4,086.88 crore from originating freight traffic, Rs 286.53 crore more than the corresponding period 2017-18, thus clocking a 7.54 per cent growth. This growth has been possible due to increase in freight loading during the above period. In 2018-19 Q1, SER loaded 49.35 million tonnes as against 48.33 million tonnes in the same period last fiscal, a growth of 2.11 per cent
Tata Steel observed the closing function of Ethics Month on the theme ‘Brand — Where ethics makes a difference’ at Steelenium Hall inside the Works premises, Jamshedpur, on August 6. The day marked the end of a month-long calendar of events to commemorate the values of integrity, unity, excellence, responsibility and being a pioneer, hallmarks of the Tata Group. The closing function was addressed by T.V. Narendran, Tata Steel CEO and managing director, over video-conferencing from Mumbai. “Ethics is the foundation on which we are respected as a brand. As a group and as a company, we walk the talk. We are all custodians of ethics for our stakeholders,” Narendran said. R. Ravi Prasad, president, Tata Workers’ Union, was personally present at the event.
