No admission in 11 Homeopathic Colleges for Lack of Facilities

Indore : In a major jolt, AYUSH ministry has denied permission to state’s 11 homeopathy medical colleges for granting admission to students in under graduate and post graduate courses for academic session 2018-19.With denial of permission to 11 homeopathic medical colleges, 1000 seats will decrease in the state. The list of debarred colleges includes city’s Shri Gujarati Samaj Homoeopathic Medical College and colleges of Dhar, Gwalior, Jabalpur and other districts.
AYUSH Ministry’s research committee member Dr AK Dwivedi said action has been taken against colleges for not fulfilling the minimum requirements needed to run the courses. “Action has been taken against 54 colleges in country including 11 from MP. The ministry has given conditional permission to certain colleges after they met the norms,” Dr Dwivedi said. “This is for first time when seats in homeopathic colleges were to be filled through NEET. But the colleges could not fulfill minimum requirements,” Dwivedi told Free Press.
The member of research committee falling under AYUSH ministry had requested AYUSH minister Shripad Naik to give the permission to these colleges. But the ministry did not concede. “The minister told me that action is necessary to maintain required education level in colleges as many of them are running for last 20 years without meeting minimum requirements,” Dwivedi said. When contacted, Sri Gujarati Samaj chairman Pankaj Sanghvi said permission was cancelled due to shortage of three faculty members. “We have recruited the faculty members and informed the ministry. It is up to ministry to take a call,” he told Free Press.
