Case Report- Case of Chronic Sinusitis treated with Homoeopathic Constitutional remedy

Introduction-

In the following mentioned case, we see the clinical utility of constitutional remedy in case of Chronic Sinusitis. The acute crisis, a change of prescription was needed as per acute totality. The case demonstrates the utility of Homoeopathic Medicines in Chronic as well as acute condition.

Case-

Preliminary data– 33 years, male patient, residing in Pune, married since 4 years, Self Employed.

Chief Complaints-Constant Nasal discharge from nose on waking up in the last 3 years. Had shown to a local Doctor, who said its Chronic Sinusitis. Occasionally, the discharge is thick, occasionally it is thin. Morning hours there is nasal discharge, Evening hours it decreases and at night, patient experiences Nose block. Left Nostril is more blocked than right nostril. Complaints are <Change of weather<AC<Fan, Nose block<Draft of air. All Complaints are >rest. Whenever he takes warm food / warm drinks he overall feels better. Due to Chief Complaints, the patient becomes Tired and irritable, as he is unable to do work.

Associated complaint-Bloating of abdomen, occasionally lower abdomen.

Generals-

1. Appetite-good, cannot tolerate hunger
2. Likes-Sweets++
3. Food</>-Not specific
4. Thirst- Less in winter, more in summer. Approximately- 1.5L/day.
5. Stool-Ok
6. Urine-Ok
7. Sleep-7-8 hours, refreshing, Supine position always
8. Dreams- Not remembered.
9. Thermals- HOT

Past History and Family History-Not significant

Mental generals as derived from life Situation–

Stays with Wife. Describes his nature as jolly– likes cracking light jokes. Says he usually doesn’t get angry, and doesn’t like people talking rudely to him. I am a peace-loving person, so I will end up saying sorry to end the argument. Even if somebody is shouting on me or on anybody else, I tell them to speak Softly. He described himself as somebody who loves learning new things and wants to know, how things are made- he enjoys learning about new things. Can make decisions easily. Scared of snakes(not marked). Weeps only while praying to God(unable to describe feelings). If some work is given to me, I like doing it with utmost responsibility.He cannot say to any work that is being assigned to him….Can share feelings easily.

Diagnosis-Chronic Sinusitis

Miasmatic diagnosis-Dynamic Chronic Miasmatic disease with fully developed symptoms.

Totality of Symptoms-

2. Sensitive to rudeness and Reproaches
3. Inquisitive
4. Jolly
5. Thermals-HOT
6. Sleep position-Supine
7. Craving- Sweets
8. Nose blocked at night and Running in the morning.

Repertorization

1^st Prescription was Nux Vomica 200 tds 1^st dilution*4days as patient was in distress and needed an acute remedy first followed by Constituitional- Lycopodium. Lycopodium was later given in infrequent doses- Lyco 200 3doses+ SL tds *15 days on 29/12/2022

Learning-

Within a period of 5 months, a long-standing illness of 3 years, responded well to homoeopathic treatment. This shows the power of Constitutional medicines in chronic Ailments.
